Sixth Form Transition
Sixth Form transition at Helena Romanes School
We put a huge emphasis on supporting our internal Year 11 students and external students to make the transition into Year 12. This initially begins with support in the application process and guidance discussions for every student to help them make the correct course choice.
During the summer term, we hold a two-day Sixth Form induction programme to help embed students into Sixth Form life. During this session we hold team building sessions so our internal and external students can get to know each other. We also give them taster lessons for their course selections and set Summer bridging work so they can hit the ground running in September.
Once students have received their GCSE results, the Sixth Form leadership team will book bespoke appointments during results week to support students to make any changes to courses.
Day one of being in Year 12 is an enrolment day, where students can meet their Form tutors and the Sixth Form leadership team. There is time given over for questions and concerns during this day.
As the term progresses, we hold a Sixth Form settling in evening to provide guidance to parents and students along with settling in data. Each week, students will experience academic tutoring classes to help them cope with independent study and weekly tutorial sessions where students can meet one to one with their specialist Sixth Form tutors.
